My Story
I first came to Clinton, Mississippi about 20 years ago as an international student at Mississippi College, now named Mississippi Christian University. At that time, I was new to the United States, new to Mississippi, and learning how to build a life in a place very different from where I grew up.
Over the years, Clinton has become home to me in the deepest sense. This community has welcomed me, shaped me, and given me so many reasons to be grateful. I have come to love not only the people here, but also the quiet, everyday goodness that often goes unnoticed.
As I built my life here, I discovered many local gems — good food, family-friendly places, helpful services, children’s activities, small businesses, and everyday finds that make life warmer and easier. Some are well known, but many are the kind of treasures you only hear about from a friend.
That is the heart behind Song’s Little Basket: I want to gather these local gems into one warm, practical, bilingual space.
This website is for Chinese families who are making a home in Mississippi, and also for English-speaking friends who are genuinely interested in Asian culture, food, family life, and cross-cultural connection. I have American friends who are curious, open-hearted, and eager to learn more about Asian culture, and I want this little basket to be welcoming and useful to them as well.
Sometimes people assume Mississippi is closed-minded or lacking in good things. When they hear that I live in Mississippi, some may wonder, “What good can come out of Mississippi?” But I have seen so much goodness here — kindness, community, beauty, creativity, hospitality, and many small treasures worth noticing.
Through Song’s Little Basket, I hope to share those good finds and tell a warmer, fuller story about the place I call home.
My hope is simple: that this website feels like a local friend saying, “Here is something good I found — I thought you might like it too.”

我的故事
大约20年前，我作为一名国际学生第一次来到 Clinton，来到当时的 Mississippi College，也就是现在的 Mississippi Christian University。那时的我刚来到一个陌生的国度，要学习如何在一个异乡建立新的生活。这些年来，密村这个宝藏社区接纳了我、塑造了我，也慢慢成为一个我舍不得离开的第二故乡。
在这里生活的过程中，我发现了许多本地的小宝藏——适合家庭的去处、实用的资源、好吃的食物、小型本地商家、孩子们的活动，以及那些让日子更温暖、更方便的日常好物。有些地方很多人都知道，但也有许多珍贵的小发现，是那种你通常只有从朋友口中才会听说的好地方。

这个网站是为正在密西西比安家的华人家庭而写的，也为那些真心对亚洲文化、美食、家庭生活和跨文化交流感兴趣的英文读者而写。我有一些美国朋友，他们真诚、开放，也很愿意了解亚洲文化；我也希望这个小篮子对他们来说是亲切的、有帮助的、欢迎他们进入的 。
